Effective July 1, 2014, the SOGC and CFPC will provided a unified training program to address the specific needs of Canadian professionals providing intrapartum care. SOGC will offer the Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM) program as the single pan-Canadian training program, combining the strengths of the two specialities, while working alongside peers in nursing and midwifery to foster interprofessional cooperation, growth and evolution.

The Conference Highlights booklet for the SOGC’s Annual Clinical and Scientific Conference is now available online, and in members’ mailboxes. In June, nearly 1,000 health-care professionals will gather in Niagara to learn, share experiences and collaborate towards improved women’s health.
Registration for the meeting opens on February 15.

We are now offering a motivational interviewing workshop at Lake Louise.
On Friday, March 28, from 1:30 to 4:30, you are invited to participate in a session on empowering conversations to prevent alcohol exposed pregnancies. Desserts and refreshments will be served.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Identify ways in which current evidence about alcohol use in pregnancy can be tailored to best support the women they are working with.
- Apply key recommended messages about light and heavy drinking in pregnancy
- Describe components of Motivational Interviewing that support engagement with women in reducing alcohol use in pregnancy.
- Connect to resources that support engagement with women in reducing alcohol use in pregnancy.
